G A R  5050 New Design M507                                                                             

M507 is our most recent sire addition, coming out of the elite Gardiner angus herd in Ashland, Kansas.  M507 will be collected, then used on a select number of females, after which he will become available for sale on a 50% shared interest basis.

He is an excellent example of what we refer to as "optimized genetic value".  His sire is the #2 $B sire in the Angus breed.   

His EPD projections are a no-compromise balance of low birthweight, powerful growth, strong maternal, and  top-grading carcass traits.   His $G and $B scores are in the top 1% of the breed.  Phenotypically, M507 displays all the muscle shape, rib and balance you would expect in a herd sire at this high level.

We believe breeding for optimized genetic value is economically more important for the angus breed than trying to develop extreme EPD scores for bragging rights on a single trait.  Success is determined by the repeatability and consistency of all areas of performance over a large range of progeny over a long period of time. 

Moderating frame size is crucial to achieve economic efficiencies in the beef industry.  But it must be a disciplined move toward a specific target and not a reactionary shift from cattle that are too big to cattle that are too small.  Our target is a 5+ frame cow in the 1,100 to 1,300 lb. range with the genetic potential to deliver 700 lb. weaning weights.

M507 is a disciplined frame size bull that stacks up favorably with the best sires in the breed.
